Chenoweth Building to be Remodeled

334 S. Main

["Ottawa Evening Herald," 05 Oct 1905, p6c4]

Within the next week or two extensive changes and improvements will be commenced in the room at 334 South Main street owned by John Chenoweth, and occupied by the W. Chenoweth undertaking establishment. The entire front will be torn out and replaced by a modern plate glass one, the door to be single and filled with the heaviest plate glass. The inside of the room will be remodeled throughout. The old partitions will be torn out and new ones put in dividing the room into a main office, a private office, a store room and a morgue room. A handsome piece of grill work will be placed over the entrance to the hallway leading from the main office into the picture and art department of the store. This will arrive in a week or two and the work will be commenced at once. The floors will be polished oak and will be covered with handsome oriental rugs. The furniture will be entirely new and will be of the latest and most approved style. The place will be up to date in every respect and will compare favorably with establishments of the kind in Kansas City.
