A FEMININE IMPOSTERby Ellis M. Clarke ["Ottawa Herald," 03 Oct 1928, page 2, column 4] Ever hear of the Pomona bride who imposed grossly on her husband? There was one. It happened a long time ago back in 1900, and maybe it should be forgotten, so won't give any names. If you are curious enough you can probably get the low-down from any old settler in the little orchard town. Just ask 'em who it was that got a wife through a matrimonial agency, and later found that he had secured an affinity who was partially wrecked physically. He had noted prior to the nuptuals that she limped a little, but thought it only trivial; later, under a more initmate relationship he found that she had a permanent and serious injury. The affair resulted in proceedings for a separation. Anyhow, Mr. ___ threw a bomb in the camp of the sisters who allure men with false hair, store teeth, glass eyes and padded figures, (not that they are doing much of this latter nowadays). |
