"The Pomona postoffice changed hands at the close of business on Tuesday last. Charley Chrisman has made a faithful officer for the past four years, and has given general satisfaction. His immediate predecessor was G. G. Glenn, who served faithfully during the Harrison administration. He was the successor of J. D. Flora, who was the first Democract to hold the office. His predecessor was Mrs. T. J. Mackey, who succeeded to the office on the death of her husband, Dr. J. W. Mackey. He had succeeded Rev. Levi Ricksecker, who was the first postmaster, being appointed early in 1870. The first office was kept in the little building now occupied by Sutherland for a carpenter shop. Dr. Mackey took it across into the room now occupied as a restaurant by Appier. Flora built on the site where the Glenn building now stands, it was moved there, but he lost the building by a mortgage and the building being moved he was compelled to go across the street into the stone store room then lately vacated by Charley Cutler. Glenn built an office on the same site formerly occupied by the Flora building, where it remained during his administration to the general satisfaction of the public. Chrisman had his own building just a little east, into which he moved the office. On Tuesday it was moved across the street into the building erected by Flora, and only 80 feet from the old building first used in 1870 by Rev. Ricksecker.
