My great-great-grandfather Jesse James GEERS owned property and lived in Miami County and most probably Wade Township from 1880 or so until right after the turn of the century, sometime after 1901. His daughter Orpha Cecilia GEERS married John E. REED at Hillsdale on 02-11-1892. Orpha died of pneumonia on 04-21-1901 and I believe she is burried in the Wellsville Cemetary. I would like to contact anyone who might have any information about any of these folks as I know little about them from here on back in the family history.

I would be interested in any information regarding Clyde Milton Certain who lived in Ottawa in 1924 according to the obituary of his father, A.J. Certain. His mother was the sister of my great-great grandfather.

I doubt if anyone has anything on these people but......just in case. I would love to have any information on my great-great grandfather, Duncan McKellar and his wife Margaret McKellar. Margaret died in Ottawa in 1871 and is buried in Hope Cemetery. Duncan then moved to Allen Township in Jewell County. I am hoping there might be a newspaper notice of the death/burial or mortuary records, etc. I do already have the cemetery record. Any information would be appreciated, I would guess that Duncan was a farmer, but maybe not. Thanks in advance for any help.

Seeking information on Mrs. Fred Sailors who was living in Dodge City, KS. in 1926 or Gertrude Reed Sailors who was living in Ottawa, KS. in 1916, may be the same person. Real interest is in Reed ancestors of Gertrude, Sanders Alexander Reed and his father, Alexander Reed, late 1700's of Amherst Co., VA. One or both were Revolutionary War veterans. Gertrude mentions family records in a letter to the Commissioner of Pensions. I think those records might be very useful to me.

He died in Bakersfield, Ca 2-1-1963. His father was Merton Orphius Watkins born 1875 in Lane, Kansas in Franklin County Kansas died ? his mother was Glovenia Edith (Smyer) Watkins born 1-15-1877 in Lewisburg, Ohio in Preble County, died 9-8-1956 in Burlington, Kansas. They had 4 children Phyllis Watkins (Hatcher), Cecil Raymond Watkins b 1-25-1903 died 12-7-1932, Kanida Watkins & Richard Sheldon Watkins Sr. born 9-10-1912 died 2-1-1963.

KS 1917; Edson, b. MI 1854, d. NM 1910; and Charles, b. MI 1862, d. ?. Hattie married Henry C. Parr in MI; they moved to KS with her parents. Edson married Ida C. ? in Ottawa, KS. Charles married Lucinda E. ? in Ottawa, KS. Fourth child, Mary Belle Thomas was born 1869 in Ottawa, KS. Married Wm. Reace in Ottawa 17 Dec 1890 in Epis. Church of Ottawa. She had two children (one died as infant), and she died in 1899. Buried with her father and mother and at least one brother in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
I'm interested in any information on the Thomas family, including spouses and children of Hattie, Charles, and Edson.

My GGF was John Richard   McCandless b. 9/17/1867 d. 21/21/1940. I do not know where he was born nor his parents name. He came to Texas via OK but was probably born in KS. He was brought to Texas by an aunt name unknown.  He and his brother Lee lived in OK for awhile before coming to Texas.    Their mother surfaced after some unknown period of time remarried to a man named Dancer, they had a son Tom Dancer.
    I have found quite a few McCandless' in Franklin Co. records.    Does anyone know anything about this Newton W. McCandless,  b. 1844;d. 1932 who is buried at the Princeton Cemetery in Franklin Co. There was a town known as McCandless, KS and it had a post office until 1901. I would like information about this.
    I especially need information about John Richard McCandless' parents. I don't like being a Great Great Grand Orphan.

Martha Rebecca Algire Sept. 1876. Children were Charles, Thomas, Gus,

    I believe he had brothers Albert, James, William and David and two sisters,

Mary & Jacob & A.E. were living with her parents in Ohio T., Franklin Co., KS in 1860. But they were back in Ohio, Seneca Co. (next door to Wyandot) in 1870. When her father died in 1873, his will said that Mary lived in Adrian, Seneca Co., OH. So far, I have not found them beyond that. I have a copy of an old letter that says they are buried in Princeton Cemetery, Franklin Co., KS. (The writer provided a lot of accurate information, also some that wasn't so accurate.) A friend checked the Princeton Cemetery book and could not find them. (I'd appreciate a double check, since the letter says they should be there.)

Query: Searching for any information on Dr. Abram KNAPP who was Superintendent of   Osawartomie State Hospital for 17 years. He d. Dec. 30, 1892 and was buried in   Ottawa. He was active in Mason Lodge and they conducted the burial ceremoney. Dr.   Knapp had wife and several children. He had two sons, Louis and George. According to  the obit, Louis preceded Abram in death in 1891 or early 1892. He supposedly died in  Garnet. Dr. Louis Knapp was a dentist who married Virginia BAYS.
